The area acquired its name from the many Irish immigrants who moved to the area in the 1840’s and grew cabbages in their front lawns. Bound by Bloor Street to the north, Jarvis Street to the west, Gerrard Street to the south and just west of Parliament to the east, the area boasts the largest collection of Victorian homes in North America. The pride of ownership is extremely high as we have seen many residents restore and renovate their victorian homes attracting many affluent professionals to the community. The area boasts some of the best loft conversions in the city, however, over the years we have as well seen the emergence of many new condominiums for those residents who do not necessarily need all of the space a freehold property offers, yet want to be in walking distance from the shops, restaurants and galleries Cabbagetown has to offer. Cabbagetown offers many loft conversions, low-rise and high-rise condominium options.
