The Action: The Creed Building is one of the few conversion projects in the Annex and units don’t come up for sale very often. So, as soon as this two-storey corner loft was listed in late October, nearly a dozen buyers raced to arrange a showing. A firm offer came within two days.
What They Got: Creed’s is a former fur warehouse built in 1937 and is now a boutique condominium residence with 19 separate units. This 1,800-square-foot model has a south-facing terrace – designed by Yorkville-based Teatro Verde with gas, lighting and irrigation systems – off a fireside den and open master suite with a walk-in closet and five-piece bathroom.
The main floor has an open entertaining area by a gas fireplace and a dining space off a kitchen with one of three skylights, slate floors and stainless steel appliances, as well as an enclosed secondary bedroom, full bathroom and laundry facilities.
A locker and two-car parking are part of the loft, which has condo fees of $1,304 a month.
The Agent’s Take: “This is the largest loft in the building and it’s really one-of-a-kind,” says agent Christopher Bibby, who adds Sex and the City actress Kim Cattrall was once a temporary tenant.
“It’s quite stunning …on the southeast corner, so it has an unobstructed view of the entire downtown core, you can see the CN Tower and you’re overlooking the Annex.”
The loft also has traits of a house, from a two-storey plan to exposures on three sides. “It’s quite uncommon to find conversions with exterior space, and here you have 1,800 square feet inside and we also had a large 450-square-foot terrace,” Mr. Bibby adds.
“[Another] thing that is quite different about the space [from] a lot of condo buildings and even lofts … is this has a wood-burning fireplace in it.”
